Orban’s Polish Visit Postponed: Search for International Allies Continues

Viktor Orban’s anticipated visit to Poland this weekend will not proceed, with official sources now pointing toward a potential meeting with Jarosław Kaczyński in September as the former Hungarian leader rebuilds his influence.

Delayed Meeting with Kaczyński

According to Onet, Orban was initially expected in Poland this weekend. However, Law and Justice (PiS) spokesperson Rafał Bochenek stated that while Jarosław Kaczyński is open to a meeting, a discussion this Saturday is highly improbable.

Bochenek noted that past agendas between the two politicians typically focused on European Union affairs, bilateral relations, and various shared projects.

Shift to September and Romanian Engagement

Viktor Orban’s press chief, Havasi, confirmed that talks regarding the Polish visit are ongoing, but it is unlikely to take place before September. Orban’s next public appearance is scheduled for July 25 in Baile Tusnad, Romania, at an annual gathering of Fidesz supporters.

This event is particularly significant as it marks Orban’s first major speech at the forum since losing power in Hungary after 16 years, and since his party became the primary opposition to Peter Magyar’s Tisza party.

Rebuilding Influence Abroad

Having lost the parliamentary election in April, Orban is actively seeking new allies across Europe to strengthen his political standing. He was a key initiator of the “Patriots for Europe” group, a right-wing alliance that recently convened in Brussels.
