Pathomorphologist Fired from National Institute of Oncology Following Warsaw Hospital Morgue Scandal

A pathomorphologist involved in a controversial autopsy at the Warsaw South Hospital has been dismissed from the National Institute of Oncology, following parliamentary intervention announced on Tuesday.

The pathomorphologist who performed the autopsy of a patient found dead in a restroom at the Warsaw South Hospital has been dismissed from the National Institute of Oncology, PiS MP Janusz Cieszyński announced on Tuesday on the X platform.

Secret Recordings and Autopsy Discussions

Portal Zero.pl reported the case of a dead patient found after several hours in a bathroom. According to recordings, the morgue coordinator allegedly instructed the pathomorphologist performing the autopsy, stating, “This is a bit of a mess. We need to make it so there is no mess.” The doctor replied, “Okay, well fine.” Before the autopsy began, the doctors also discussed potential causes of death and speculated on what the patient might have died from before even examining the deceased.

Parliamentary Intervention and Investigation into Recordings

The pathomorphologist also worked at the National Institute of Oncology. As Cieszyński reported on X, following his parliamentary intervention, the pathomorphologist was dismissed from that institution. The recordings obtained by the portal were made by an autopsy assistant who was in conflict with the head of the morgue. The hospital filed two notifications with the prosecutor’s office regarding irregularities in the morgue, one of which concerned the installation of a wiretap. Proceedings in this matter were discontinued.

Morgue Allegations and Forged Death Certificates

According to the portal, the morgue coordinator also allegedly promoted the funeral home of his business partner, published photos of bodies and human remains on social media profiles, and the morgue was allegedly rented out as a film set. An investigation is currently underway regarding the forgery of three death certificates, which involved the application of the morgue coordinator’s seals and their signing by an unauthorized person.
