Pedestrian Struck and Trapped Under Bus in Downtown Warsaw

A serious accident occurred around 9:00 PM at the intersection of Gen. Władysława Andersa and Anielewicza streets, where a city bus struck a pedestrian, dragging her beneath the vehicle.

Collision at the Intersection

Preliminary findings indicate that the driver of a line 111 city bus was performing a right-hand turn when the vehicle struck a woman crossing at a marked, signalized pedestrian crossing. The force of the impact dragged the pedestrian, leaving her trapped under the bus.

Rescue and Emergency Response

Emergency services, including two fire department units, the city’s operational group, medical rescue teams, police, municipal guards, and ZTM traffic supervision, were immediately dispatched to the scene. Firefighters utilized specialized hydraulic equipment to extract the victim from under the vehicle.

Upon extraction, the woman was handed over to paramedics. She was conscious at the time of the rescue and was transported to a hospital after receiving medical stabilization.

Traffic Disruptions and Investigation

Police have secured the site and are conducting an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the collision, including the status of the traffic signals and the conduct of those involved. The intersection remains blocked, causing significant traffic delays in the area.

Public Transport Adjustments

The Warsaw Public Transport Authority (WTP) reports disruptions to line 111. Buses have been rerouted via Anielewicza, Zamenhofa, Nowolipki, and Andersa, bypassing the Muranów 03 stop.
