Physician Dawid Kacprzyk Resigns Council Seat After Returning Half a Million to Hospital

Warsaw city councilman and hospital department coordinator Dawid Kacprzyk resigned his position after returning 500,000 PLN to the Southern Hospital amid allegations of financial misconduct and preferential treatment.

Resignation and Criminal Allegations

Anna Auksel-Sekutowicz confirmed on Thursday, June 18, that Kacprzyk submitted his formal resignation to Ursus district council chairman Dariusz Pastor. The Warsaw City Hall announced that the hospital has filed a criminal complaint regarding potential financial exploitation for personal gain.

The municipal government stated that between June 15 and June 16, Kacprzyk corrected 33 invoices covering the period from January 31, 2025, to June 16, 2026. Following these adjustments, he returned 500,000 PLN to the hospital’s accounts.

Controversial Earnings and Preferential Access

Reports indicate that Kacprzyk, a resident physician serving as the emergency department coordinator at the Southern Hospital, earned 1.6 million PLN last year. Public outcry also followed allegations that coalition politicians were granted expedited access and priority medical examinations at his department.

Following his resignation from the Civic Coalition, Minister of Internal Affairs Marcin Kierwiniński accepted his departure on June 15. The hospital terminated all contracts with the physician two days later.

Professional and Legal Investigations

The Supreme Medical Chamber has notified the professional liability officer regarding discrepancies between Kacprzyk’s hospital shifts and his outside activities, including public appearances in the media and the Senate. Spokesperson Jakub Kosikowski confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine if he abandoned his medical duties.

The Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office is currently investigating the emergency department’s intake system to determine if patient triage protocols endangered lives. Prosecutors are also examining suspicions of document forgery related to work hour logs for personal financial gain.
