The Pilecki Institute announced that its websites and branch pages in Berlin and August贸w were targeted in a cyberattack featuring Russian propaganda between August 13 and 14.

Cyberattack on Pilecki Institute Websites
The Pilecki Institute reported that its main website and the websites of its branches in Berlin and August贸w fell victim to a cyberattack during the night of August 13 to 14. Following the breach, content of a Russian propaganda and disinformation nature was posted on them, as stated in a communication sent to PAP.
Propaganda Targeting Polish History
The published content was aimed at Polish history and reinforced anti-Ukrainian narratives, according to the official statement. Thanks to the quick reaction of the IT team, the attacked pages were shut down and the attack was blocked, ensuring the situation is under control and resources are safe.
Security Review and Ongoing Investigation
A detailed security review of all Institute websites is currently underway, with the institution promising to restore their availability as quickly as possible. The Pilecki Institute remains in contact with CSIRT NASK, and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage has also been notified.
Commitment to Historical Mission
The Institute emphasized that it has actively counteracted disinformation, researched 20th-century totalitarianisms, and cooperated with Ukrainian archives and institutions for years. It noted that it does not intend to abandon this mission, regardless of the pressure and aggression it experiences.
