Party Expulsions Announced
The PiS Disciplinary Court decided on Thursday to remove from the party 38 deputies and two senators belonging to the Rozwój Plus club. Among those excluded is former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, as announced by PiS disciplinary spokesperson Karol Karski. The parliamentarians have seven days to submit an appeal.
Statute Violations Cited
According to Karski, the disciplinary court ruled that all of them severely violated the Statute of Law and Justice by leaving the PiS parliamentary club and joining a new parliamentary club.
Morawiecki’s Additional Charges
Karski emphasized that in the case of Morawiecki, the disciplinary court additionally found that on August 3 he publicly announced the creation of a new political party competing with Law and Justice. He clarified that no such declaration was made regarding the other individuals. Karski noted that the court did not examine the cases of three MEPs who are members of the Rozwój Plus association on Thursday.
Appeal Deadline
Karski informed that a total of 40 parliamentarians have seven days to appeal the decision. In the absence of an appeal, after this time they will officially cease to be members of PiS.
