An Ultimatum to Dissidents
The Presidium of the PiS Political Committee has formally prohibited its members from participating in political associations, foundations, or similar organizations. This directive specifically targets the “Rozwój Plus” association linked to Mateusz Morawiecki and “Po pierwsze Polska” associated with Jacek Sasin.
Party spokesperson Rafał Bochenek announced via X that members must resign from these organizations within one week. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary proceedings, up to and including the loss of party membership.
Morawiecki Refuses to Back Down
Despite the party’s decree, Mateusz Morawiecki has indicated he will not dissolve his association. He asserted that “Rozwój Plus” has a concrete mission to help build a strong Poland and insisted that the movement must remain focused on its objectives rather than internal party conflicts.
Calls for Unity and Internal Friction
Patryk Jaki has urged Morawiecki and his associates to remain within the party, framing the dissolution of factions as a necessary step for a strong leader. Jaki characterized the internal tension as a choice between personal ambition and party strength, though his call was met with sharp criticism.
MEP Piotr Müller questioned Jaki’s motives, citing his voting record on EU digital surveillance legislation. Müller expressed concern over what he termed the “Suwpolization” of PiS, suggesting the party is veering in an concerning direction.
Allegations of Internal Sabotage
The leadership’s decision has triggered significant unrest within the party. MPs Janusz Cieszyński and Waldemar Buda have publicly criticized the move, claiming that a specific group within PiS is prioritizing the removal of Mateusz Morawiecki over winning elections, a strategy they argue will cause long-term damage to the political right.
