PiS to Expel “Faithful” Politicians as Morawiecki’s Next Steps Emerge

The PiS Political Committee is set to officially expel over 30 lawmakers linked to Mateusz Morawiecki’s “Rozwój Plus” association today following an ultimatum over political affiliations.

The Final Decision on Party Expulsions

There is no turning back. More than 30 politicians who chose Mateusz Morawiecki and his “Rozwój Plus” association will be permanently expelled from PiS today. The party’s Political Committee will approve Jarosław Kaczyński’s decision on Tuesday, and the former prime minister has already announced his next moves after being removed from the lists.

A political earthquake within PiS enters its next chapter today as the Political Committee votes to expel the parliamentarians who joined Morawiecki’s organization. The decision will be executed through a vote and a resolution stating whether membership has expired under party statutes.

Long-Standing Shakes and the Ultimatum

The massive shock began last Friday following a Thursday midnight deadline set by PiS leadership. Members were ordered to declare they did not belong to associations conducting political activities under threat of expulsion, specifically targeting Morawiecki’s group.

After politicians refused to sign the loyalty pledge, PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński stated that the group had effectively resigned from party membership. Meanwhile, politicians linked to Morawiecki maintain they did not quit PiS, arguing that “intriguers” are attempting to push them out.

Morawiecki’s Plans and Parliamentary Club

Morawiecki announced on Monday evening that a meeting of the “Rozwój Plus” association would follow the Political Committee session. He stated that if association members are removed from PiS, they will form a new parliamentary club.

A Sejm club requires at least 15 MPs, while the current Law and Justice parliamentary club has 186 members. Morawiecki previously reported his circle includes 40 MPs, a senator, and three MEPs, though MP Grzegorz Lorek recently left the association after reportedly signing the PiS-mandated declaration.

Committee Composition and Party Statutes

The PiS Political Committee comprises over 50 members, including vice presidents such as Morawiecki, alongside members of the “Rozwój Plus” association like Ryszard Terlecki, Krzysztof Lipiec, and Marzena Machałek. Morawiecki stated he had not planned to attend Tuesday’s meeting and had not received an invitation.

Under PiS statutes, party membership can cease due to membership in an organization whose goals contradict party principles, or through the active support of such an organization. Committee members indicated that if the targeted politicians attend Tuesday’s session, they will be required to leave the proceedings after the resolution is passed.
