Cancellation of Lower Silesia Visit
Prime Minister Tusk, alongside Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński and Sports Minister Jakub Rutnicki, had planned to visit the Stronie Śląskie Sports Club stadium. News of the visit’s cancellation was announced before 8 a.m.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk is en route to the Lublin region following the nighttime violation of Polish airspace, government spokesperson Adam Szłapka confirmed on Thursday morning.
Airspace Breach and Coordination
During a massive Russian missile attack on western Ukraine, Polish airspace was violated, Prime Minister Tusk stated on X, adding that he convened a coordination team with the Defense Minister and relevant services working continuously at the site.
Earlier on Thursday, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces reported that an unidentified object was detected in Polish airspace at 3:40 AM, prompting the dispatch of an F-16 fighter jet before the object vanished from radar at 3:46 AM.
Remnants and Crater in Tarnawa-Kolonia
A helicopter crew located the probable impact site of the object in an uninhabited area near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia in the Lublin Voivodeship.
Captain Tomasz Stachyra, spokesperson for the Lublin provincial state fire service commander, reported that firefighters are securing a crater measuring approximately 10 meters in diameter in Tarnawa-Kolonia.
Early Warning Sirens and Official Reactions
Due to Russian air attacks on Ukraine, an early warning system was activated in Lublin and several other areas of the Lublin Voivodeship, causing sirens to sound around 3:50 AM before being canceled minutes later, along with alarms in Krasnystaw.
Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz called it an extremely difficult night for air defense and observation systems, noting that information was coordinated continuously and investigations are underway to determine the type of object that fell near Tarnawa-Kolonia.
