Minister Announces Arrest
Poznań police have already detained one of the female aggressors from a video that circulated widely online, while the identity of the second woman is also known to law enforcement. “Zero tolerance for aggression and hate!” wrote Minister of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński on Friday, August 14, on X.
Incident in the Old Town
The assault took place during the night between August 12 and 13 outside a venue in the Old Town of Poznań. Footage from the scene shows one of the women approaching two men, insulting them, and spitting on one of the victims. She also knocked over a restaurant umbrella standing near the men, struck one of them, and shouted “get the f… out to Ukraine, bitch.”
Police Investigation Underway
Officers from the Poznań-Stare Miasto police station immediately took up the case after the recording of the aggressive behavior of the two likely intoxicated women toward Ukrainian citizens surfaced online, according to sub-inspector Iwona Liszczyńska from the Poznań Municipal Police Headquarters.
Venue Manager Files Official Report
Police contacted the manager of the venue, who reported to the police station on Friday before noon to file an official complaint regarding the incident. Without waiting for the formal notification, officers immediately initiated identification procedures to determine the identities of the aggressive women, the police spokeswoman stated.
Legal Qualification Pending
Law enforcement officials are still establishing the detailed circumstances of the incident. Once the full body of evidence is gathered, a decision will be made regarding the legal classification of the act, which will determine the potential penalties facing the women.
