Police Detain Suspect in Poznan Attack
One of the women suspected of attacking Ukrainian citizens in Poznan’s Old Town was detained on Friday by police, as announced by Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński. He added that officers have also established the identity of the second female aggressor.
Footage posted on social media platforms shows two aggressive women attacking men identified by Interior Ministry spokeswoman Karolina Gałecka as Ukrainian nationals. The incident occurred during the night between August 12 and 13 outside a food establishment in the Poznan Old Town.
Aggressive Behavior Captured on Video
The recording shows one of the women approaching two men, insulting them, and then spitting on one of them. The woman also pushes over a dining umbrella standing next to the men, strikes one of them, and screams “get the f… out to Ukraine, you bitch.”
On Friday afternoon, Kierwiński stated on the platform X that Poznan police had already detained one of the aggressors. “The identity of the second woman is also known to the Police. Zero tolerance for aggression and hatred!” wrote the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration.
Formal Notification and Investigation
Earlier, Inspector Iwona Liszczyńska of the Greater Poland Police press team informed journalists that officers from the Poznan Stare Miasto police station immediately took up the case following the online video showing the aggressive behavior of two likely intoxicated women toward Ukrainian citizens.
Police contacted the manager of the establishment, who reported to the station on August 14 before noon and filed an official notification regarding the matter. She added that without waiting for the formal notification, officers immediately undertook identification activities to determine the identities of the aggressive women.
