Prosecutor General Rejects Claims of Political Motive in Prosecutor’s Recall

Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek has dismissed allegations that the recall of prosecutor Julita Dziedzic-Bogucka from her delegation at the National Prosecutor’s Office was politically motivated, insisting personnel decisions are strictly professional.

Denial of Retaliation Allegations

Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek addressed claims that the decision to recall prosecutor Julita Dziedzic-Bogucka—the wife of the President’s Chief of Staff, Zbigniew Bogucki—was an act of political revenge. Żurek stated that he does not act out of vengeance and makes personnel decisions based solely on the operational needs of the prosecutor’s office.

During a Wednesday press conference, the Prosecutor General emphasized that he has made dozens, if not hundreds, of similar appointments and reassignments across various departments since taking office. He stressed that he does not offer commentary on specific personnel moves and remains focused on the requirements of ongoing investigations.

Legal Basis for Recall

Prok. Anna Adamiak, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General, noted that the decision to recall a prosecutor from a delegation does not require a formal justification. It is a standard exercise of authority by the superior prosecutor, who holds the power to delegate or recall staff at any time, provided a three-month notice period is observed.

Dziedzic-Bogucka is set to conclude her duties at the West Pomeranian Regional Division of the National Prosecutor’s Office on September 30. While it is expected she will return to the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Szczecin, official confirmation regarding her post-September status has not yet been issued.
