Railcar Collides with Passenger Car at Unprotected Crossing in Kaczorowy

A 21-year-old driver was hospitalized following a collision between her Hyundai and a railcar at an unprotected level crossing in the Płońsk district on Tuesday evening.

Details of the Incident

Around 6:30 p.m., the Płońsk County Police received a report of a collision between a railcar and a passenger vehicle at an unprotected railway crossing in Kaczorowy, located in the Raciąż municipality.

Investigators determined that the 21-year-old driver from the Raciąż area likely failed to obey a STOP sign. As she crossed the tracks, the railcar, traveling from Płońsk toward Sierpc, struck the rear of her vehicle.

Emergency Response and Passenger Safety

An Air Ambulance helicopter was dispatched to the scene, though the woman was ultimately transported to the hospital by ambulance for further examination. She was traveling alone and testing confirmed she was sober.

There were 14 passengers and two crew members on board the railcar at the time of the collision. None of the individuals on the train sustained any injuries.

Authorities emphasized that this is another incident at an unprotected crossing within the district. A STOP sign at a railway crossing requires a mandatory vehicle halt to ensure the path is clear before proceeding.
