Record Results for Karol Nawrocki: Highest Ratings Since the Beginning of the Presidency

A new CBOS poll shows that President Karol Nawrocki’s approval rating reached 56 percent in July, marking his highest support since taking office and the second consecutive month of significant growth.

In the poll, 56 percent of respondents rated President Karol Nawrocki’s activity positively, which is 5 percentage points more than in June and 10 percentage points more than in May. A negative rating was given to the president by 37 percent of respondents, 2 percentage points fewer than in the previous month. The “hard to say” answer was chosen by 7 percent of respondents, 3 points fewer than previously.

Who most frequently rated Nawrocki’s activity positively? These are young men, PiS voters and voters of both groupings of Confederation, people identifying with the right wing, rural residents, and respondents with lower incomes. Negative opinions, on the other hand, dominate among supporters of KO and New Left, voters of Rafał Trzaskowski from the second round of the presidential election, residents of larger cities, and people achieving the highest incomes.

CBOS notes that this is the second month in a row in which changes exceed the typical monthly fluctuations of the president’s ratings, which—as the center points out—means the consolidation of social support for his activity. Current ratings are the highest since the beginning of Karol Nawrocki’s presidency.

Sejm and Senate Public Approval

The majority of Poles are critical of the Sejm’s work. Evaluations of the Senate have also deteriorated. According to the poll, the Sejm’s activity was rated positively in July by 27 percent of surveyed individuals, which is 3 percentage points less than in June. Negative opinions were expressed by 58 percent of respondents, 3 percentage points more than previously. No opinion was expressed by 15 percent of surveyed individuals, which showed no change.

CBOS indicates that better evaluations of the Sejm’s work are more frequently declared by supporters of KO and New Left, people identifying with the left, residents of the largest cities, people with higher education, and the better-off. Critical opinions are more frequently expressed by voters of PiS, Confederation, and Grzegorz Braun’s Confederation of the Polish Crown. These are typically respondents aged 25-34, people with basic vocational education, and lower incomes.

Evaluations of the Senate have also deteriorated slightly. The activity of this parliamentary chamber is positively evaluated by 31 percent of surveyed individuals, 2 percentage points less than in June, while negatively by 43 percent, 2 percentage points more. The percentage of “hard to say” answers amounted to 26 percent, lower by 1 percentage point.

Poll Methodology

The poll was carried out from July 2 to 12 on a sample of 938 people, including: 65.5 percent via the CAPI method (direct interview with an interviewer), 16.6 percent via CATI (telephone interview after contacting a CBOS interviewer), and 17.9 percent via CAWI (independent completion of an internet survey).
