Prison Sentence and Charges
The Moscow City Court sentenced a man to 23 years of imprisonment to be served in a strict-regime penal colony, an 800,000 ruble fine equivalent to approximately 36,000 PLN, and two years of restriction of liberty. The man was convicted of high treason in the form of espionage and providing financial assistance to another country against the Russian Federation.
The FSB stated that the verdict is final.
FSB Allegations of Polish Intelligence Contact
The FSB stated that Georgy P. established contact with Polish intelligence. Russian services claim that Georgy P. left Russia after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022. In April of the same year, he allegedly actively contacted a representative of the Military Intelligence Service of the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Poland. According to the FSB, the 37-year-old received a task to collect and transfer classified information regarding advanced weapons used by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the war in Ukraine.
Information Gathering and Cryptocurrency Transfers
Russians claim that the man used his contacts among workers in the Russian defense industry. He reportedly leaked information to intelligence services regarding the production and use of missile systems and data of individuals with access to state secrets. Furthermore, the FSB claims that the perpetrator made cryptocurrency transfers for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, bought ammunition for armed formations, and organized its deliveries from Poland to Ukraine. Representatives of the Polish Military Intelligence Service have not commented on the matter so far.
Detention of a Russian Citizen Over Planned Execution
A Russian citizen has been detained, with authorities stating that an execution was successfully prevented. Prime Minister Donald Tusk informed on Thursday that Polish services detained a 29-year-old Russian citizen last week. The Russian intended to carry out an execution in Warsaw targeting a US and Ukrainian citizen who is inconvenient for Vladimir Putin’s regime.
Prime Minister Tusk stated that thanks to the action of the Internal Security Agency and the police, this execution and attack were prevented at the last moment.

The Prime Minister noted that this is the first situation where someone acting on Russian orders decides to attempt an assassination of an American citizen on the territory of another NATO country. Unfortunately, we must assume that Putin’s regime will try to eliminate people who are inconvenient for various reasons in various places around the world, the head of government added. Therefore, our actions will be extremely intensive in this matter to prevent any potential further attempts targeting Polish citizens or citizens of other countries within our country.
