Severe Weather Alert: Cyclone Ulf Brings Red Warnings for Poland

Cyclone Ulf is hitting Poland with intense winds and heavy rain, prompting the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management to issue critical red alerts for the Pomeranian region.

Red Alerts for Gale-Force Winds

In the coming hours, cyclone Ulf will dominate Poland’s weather. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued severe warnings for strong winds and heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

Third-degree alerts are in effect for two counties in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Red alerts for high winds have been issued for Puck County until 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 8, and for Nowy Dwór County until 12:00 PM.

Wind Speeds and Regional Impact

Wind speeds in the north may reach up to 120 km/h. First and second-degree wind warnings cover the West Pomeranian, Pomeranian, Warmian-Masurian, Podlaskie, Masovian, and Lublin voivodeships, remaining active in the northeast until 5:00 PM.

Near the Hel Peninsula and the Vistula Lagoon, gusts may peak at 120 km/h. Other regions anticipate average winds of 40-45 km/h with gusts reaching 75-85 km/h, expected to subside by the afternoon.

Storms and Heavy Rainfall Warnings

From 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, first-degree IMGW alerts for intense rain and thunderstorms apply to the north of Podlaskie and the east and north of the Warmian-Masurian voivodeship. Expected rainfall in the northeast is approximately 30 mm.

Forecasted Drop in Temperatures

Residents will experience a significant temperature drop on Wednesday. Thermometers in Podlaskie will show approximately 12 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures in central Poland, coastal areas, and mountainous regions will reach 18 degrees. Western Poland is forecast to reach 22 degrees Celsius.
