Siemoniak: Services on Full Alert Amid Russian Threat to Poland

Deputy Prime Minister Tomasz Siemoniak warns that intelligence services are on high alert following Radosław Sikorski’s recent comments regarding potential Russian provocations and sabotage operations targeting Poland.

Warning of False Flag Provocations

Speaking on TVN24, Deputy Prime Minister Tomasz Siemoniak addressed potential Russian tactics, specifically mentioning the possibility of false flag operations involving drones. He warned that Russia might stage an incident to justify an aggressive response, noting that the state must remain prepared for such maneuvers.

Siemoniak emphasized that the threat is serious, a conclusion shared by both Polish and allied intelligence agencies. Authorities are currently observing various reconnaissance activities being carried out against the state.

Sabotage and Cyber Aggression Risks

The minister confirmed that the Internal Security Agency has already made several arrests related to sabotage attempts. He reminded the public of the series of diversionary acts observed last November and warned that the country must be prepared for the worst-case scenarios.

While the “little green men” scenario is primarily seen as a threat to the Baltic states, Poland faces a significant risk of intensified sabotage and cyber aggression. Poland remains one of the world’s primary targets for such espionage and digital hostile actions.

Dismissing the Political Calendar

Siemoniak stated that it would be highly irresponsible to underestimate these threats, as Russia does not adhere to any political calendar when planning its aggression. He pointed to the massive recent attacks on Ukraine, including Kyiv, as evidence that Moscow uses such opportunities to exploit internal debates in Poland regarding support for Ukraine.

Reiterating the government’s stance, the minister stressed that providing support to Ukraine remains a vital national interest for Poland.
