A tragic fire occurred on Thursday evening, after 19:00, in the village of Świerczyn 13 in the Drobin commune, Płock County. The fire engulfed a smokehouse building measuring approximately 10 by 20 meters.
Significant fire department resources were dispatched to the scene. Around 13 units from both the State Fire Service (PSP) and Voluntary Fire Service (OSP) participated in the operations. The initial phase of the operation was accompanied by very heavy smoke, which hindered rescue and firefighting efforts.
Fatality and Ongoing Operations
Unfortunately, the fire proved to have tragic consequences, resulting in one fatality.
Firefighters managed to bring the fire situation under control, and there is no longer any threat of the fire spreading further and uncontrollably to neighboring buildings. However, intensive operations are still underway at the scene, with firefighters extinguishing the burned area, checking subsequent sections of the facility, and eliminating fire sources.
Investigation Into Causes
Due to the scale of the incident and the nature of the building affected by the fire, operations may last until late into the night.
