Stabbing in Kamienna Góra: One of the Detained Released

Following a brutal Friday night stabbing that left a 15-year-old boy fighting for his life near a reservoir in Kamienna Góra, police released one detained 16-year-old while holding the other.

Stabbing Near the Reservoir

A brutal attack took place on Friday evening, August 7, on Księcia Bolka Street in Kamienna Góra, Lower Silesian Voivodeship. Several hundred meters from the reservoir hosting the Kamienna Góra Days celebrations, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed and hospitalized, with doctors still fighting for his life.

Police Detainments and Releases

Initially, police launched a manhunt for an unknown perpetrator and urged residents to exercise caution. By Friday before 10 PM, officers detained two 16-year-olds connected to the incident, with Radio RMF24 reporting that one was released after questioning while the other remains in a police juvenile shelter.

Family Court to Decide

Junior Inspector Katarzyna Trzepak from the Kamienna Góra Police County Headquarters confirmed that the released teenager did not directly participate, noting both are Polish residents who knew each other. She added that the second suspect’s statements are classified under investigation secrecy, and materials will go to the family court to determine if he is tried as a juvenile or an adult.

Second Stabbing Incident This Week

Friday’s incident marks the second knife attack in the city within days, separated by less than a kilometer. On Monday, August 3, on Karola Miarki Street, a 30-year-old man stabbed his 33-year-old acquaintance in the abdomen during a social gathering, leaving the victim in life-threatening condition.

Suspect Faces Life Imprisonment

The attacker was quickly apprehended by police and charged with attempted murder, making criminal threats, and injuring a witness, facing up to life imprisonment. The court ordered a three-month temporary arrest as a preliminary measure.
