Suspect in Monaco Oligarch Assassination Attempt Found Dead Near Kyiv

The body of Anastasiya Berezovska, the primary suspect in a June Monaco bombing targeting Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolayev, has been discovered buried near Kyiv following a fatal shooting.

Discovery of the Body

Sources from Ukrainska Pravda reported that the woman’s body was found buried near Kyiv on July 6 at approximately 11:00 p.m. Investigators confirmed she had been shot, noting that she had been out of Ukraine between March 22, 2025, and July 1, 2026.

Law enforcement officials revealed that two suspects have already been detained in connection with the investigation. One is an active officer of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR), while the other is a former law enforcement employee.

Monaco Bombing Investigation

In late June, an explosion occurred outside a residence in Monaco. On July 3, the Monaco prosecutor’s office identified 39-year-old Ukrainian citizen Anastasiya Berezovska as the prime suspect. Interpol subsequently issued a red notice for her arrest.

The Interpol notice, dated July 3, states that Berezovska is wanted for attempted murder committed by an organized criminal group, specifically for placing an explosive device on a public road.

Targeted Attack on Vadym Yermolayev

Vadym Yermolayev, a businessman sanctioned by Ukraine in 2023 for activities in Russian-occupied Crimea, was the target of the attack. Reports indicate Berezovska tracked Yermolayev’s family and home before detonating an explosive device remotely as he entered the property.

The explosion wounded Yermolayev, his companion—who required a double leg amputation—and his son, who remains in serious but stable condition in a Nice hospital.
