Allegations of a VIP Path
According to reports from Zero.pl, an unofficial fast-track admission process was established at the Warsaw Southern Hospital’s emergency department for politicians of the Civic Coalition and their relatives. The facility reportedly designated a room as a “VIP lounge” for these individuals.
The system was allegedly created by Dawid Kacprzyk, a district councilor for Ursus. Kacprzyk, who worked as a medical resident at the hospital, reported 1.6 million zlotys in income from his work at the public institution in his financial disclosure.
Szczepkowska Addresses the Controversy
Actress Joanna Szczepkowska commented on the scandal via Facebook, noting that while the allegations are serious, few facts have been proven beyond the physician’s earnings. She argued that the incident represents a “very bad message,” specifically regarding the moral ethos of the liberal side, and insisted that those who utilized these shortcuts must be named.
Szczepkowska criticized the focus on this event by comparing it to past actions of the Law and Justice (PiS) party. She argued that the current situation is minor compared to the wrongdoing attributed to the previous administration, suggesting that political emotions often obscure systemic issues.
Historical Comparisons to PiS-era Funding
The actress cited the case of Jarosław Kaczyński’s knee surgeries, referencing testimonies from Tomasz Mraz, former director at the Ministry of Justice. Mraz alleged that a hospital received millions in funding from the Justice Fund following instructions to treat the “first knee of the Republic.”
Szczepkowska highlighted that the hospital received approximately 18.5 million zlotys in grants over five years, with significant portions allegedly linked to political influence. She maintained that the current VIP lounge issue should not result in a cover-up, while emphasizing the scale of past controversies under the previous government.
