The 2026 Honorary Pension
The honorary pension is a special, lifelong benefit available to all Polish citizens upon reaching 100 years of age. As of March 1, 2026, the gross monthly amount is 6,938.92 PLN. Eligibility is based solely on age, meaning no minimum work history or social security contributions are required.
Crucially, the benefit amount is fixed at the time of the recipient’s 100th birthday and is not subject to annual indexation. Once granted, the individual receives that specific gross amount for life, regardless of subsequent annual increases in the base rate for new recipients.
Special Pensions and Exceptional Cases
The Prime Minister and the President of ZUS hold the authority to grant extraordinary pensions or disability benefits in exceptional life circumstances. This serves as a vital safety net for individuals unable to secure a standard pension due to long-term illness, severe disability, or unforeseen hardships.
Applicants must demonstrate total incapacity for work and a complete lack of other sources of income. Should an application be denied, there is no judicial appeal, but a request for reconsideration may be filed with the ZUS President within 14 days, followed by a potential complaint to the Voivodship Administrative Court in Warsaw.
Supplementary Support: The Mama 4 Plus Program
The “Mama 4 plus” program provides financial support to parents who have dedicated their time to raising at least four children rather than pursuing a professional career. As of 2026, ZUS provides a top-up to the national minimum pension (1,978.49 PLN gross).
While primarily designed for mothers, fathers may also qualify if the mother is deceased, abandoned the children, or failed to participate in their upbringing. The applicant must have reached the statutory retirement age and lack a minimum pension to receive the supplementary payment.
