Unfolding Conflicts and Financial Irregularities
The dispute at the Southern Hospital has expanded beyond a conflict between management and a former department head to include concerns over workplace organization, financial settlements, and political influence. Public attention has been drawn to the case of Dawid Kacprzyk, a young doctor who earned 1.6 million PLN in a year as a coordinator across multiple facilities despite alleged lack of qualifications.
Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski, the former head of surgery, reportedly signaled irregularities to hospital leadership and Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski as early as summer 2025. He was subsequently removed from his position, triggering a legal battle involving 531,000 PLN in contested claims and charges regarding medical billing practices.
Military Service and Integrity Concerns
Dr. Jędrzejewski’s departure from the military has also drawn scrutiny from the Military Gendarmerie. Records indicate he held a position at the Central Military Medical Commission but failed to perform his duties between September 2024 and January 2025 while working at the Southern Hospital.
The physician reportedly cited authorization from former Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak to justify his absences. Following an investigation that found no documentation supporting this claim, he was dismissed from military service in early 2025.
Broader Institutional Pressure
The controversy is compounded by past media reports linking Dr. Jędrzejewski to an investigation regarding illegal university diplomas. Additionally, while the doctor previously worked with Polsat Boxing Promotion, he has categorically denied any personal acquaintance with Karol Nawrocki.
On June 19, 2026, the Warsaw District Medical Council called for a thorough investigation into organizational and financial anomalies. The Council is currently reviewing the status of Dawid Kacprzyk, who serves as a council member, while pushing for a systemic reform to decouple public health management from political interests.
