A man died on Sunday, June 28, after disappearing beneath the surface of the Narew River near the Kalinowo beach in the Pultusk district, despite an extensive rescue and resuscitation attempt.

The incident at Kalinowo
Emergency services were alerted at approximately 12:15 p.m. regarding a person who had entered the Narew River and failed to resurface. The incident occurred near the beach in Kalinowo, located within the Pultusk district.
Rescue and recovery operation
Firefighters, water rescue teams, and police were dispatched to the site, deploying rescue boats and specialized underwater search teams. The operation covered the area between the Pultusk and Makow districts.
Failed resuscitation attempt
The man was located after nearly an hour of searching. Rescuers immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation, continuing their efforts for 40 minutes, but were unable to restore his vital functions.
Ongoing investigation
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office. The initial report confirmed the victim had disappeared underwater at the Kalinowo beach area.
National drowning statistics
The Government Security Center reported that four people drowned yesterday in the Pomeranian, Warmian-Masurian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, and Lesser Poland voivodeships. Since April 1, there have been 78 recorded drowning deaths.
