Tusk to Politicians: “Do Not Play with Fire Regarding Ukraine”

Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed the necessity of a unified national stance on security during an event in Bydgoszcz on Monday, July 6, warning politicians against jeopardizing cooperation with Ukraine.

A Call for Political Cohesion

During the event in Bydgoszcz, Donald Tusk emphasized that Poland’s security relies on a consistent policy across all government branches. He explicitly warned politicians, including the president, against playing with fire regarding the country’s posture toward Ukraine.

National Consensus and Russian Aggression

Tusk stressed that military aid to Ukraine has been a matter of national consensus. He stated that while debates on history or migration are permissible, the integrity of cooperation with Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression must remain untouchable.

The Prime Minister noted that every successful strike by Ukraine against Russian assets directly enhances Poland’s safety. He questioned those advocating for a cessation of military aid, asking if they had shifted their allegiance to Russia.

Strategic Investment in Defense Technology

Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that the new agreement between PGZ, WZL-2, and Anduril Industries holds strategic importance for Europe. As the first European state to sign such a deal with Anduril, Poland is positioning itself as a leader in modern defense technology.

The Prime Minister’s Office highlighted that the production of Barracuda systems will bolster Poland’s capabilities as a key NATO eastern flank nation, addressing the alliance’s need for mass-produced, cost-effective strike systems.
