Two Dogs Attack Eight-Year-Old in Sosnowiec

An eight-year-old girl was seriously injured after being attacked by two dogs at a business premises in the Dańdówka district of Sosnowiec on Friday evening, with her father sustaining injuries while protecting her.

The Incident in Dańdówka

The incident occurred on Friday before 8:00 PM on the grounds of a company in the Dańdówka district of Sosnowiec. A local man had brought his two daughters, aged 8 and 10, to his workplace to feed the two dogs kept there, as he regularly did.

Although the man and his children were familiar with the dogs and had never previously observed any signs of aggression, the animals suddenly attacked the younger girl. The father shielded his daughter with his own body, sustaining injuries in the process.

Emergency Response and Medical Condition

Bystanders intervened and drove the dogs away. The eight-year-old girl was transported to the hospital in serious condition, while her father received medical attention at the scene. The older child was unharmed.

Following the attack, the veterinary doctor ordered that the dogs be placed under observation at a local animal shelter.

Safety Advice and Dog Attack Protocols

Police emphasize that even familiar dogs can behave unpredictably. They advise against running from a dog, showing fear, or making eye contact. Instead, they recommend standing sideways with feet slightly apart to maintain balance.

Authorities suggest adopting the “turtle position” to protect vulnerable areas—clasping hands, hiding thumbs, covering the neck and ears, and pulling the head toward the knees while crouching.
