Ukrainian National Charged With Murder of Fellow Citizen in Legionowo

The Legionowo District Prosecutor’s Office has charged 21-year-old Ukrainian national Artem S. with the murder of a 35-year-old compatriot following a violent confrontation that took place between June 25 and 26, 2026.

The Investigation and Charges

The Legionowo District Prosecutor’s Office initiated the investigation on June 29, 2026, based on evidence gathered by police since the victim’s disappearance. Prosecutors have requested that the court remand the suspect in temporary custody.

According to District Prosecutor Karolina Staros, the suspect initiated the meeting to resolve a personal conflict. The situation escalated when Artem S., frustrated by the victim’s behavior, physically assaulted him before using a knife.

Struggle and Attempted Concealment

Evidence suggests the 35-year-old victim attempted to defend himself during the attack, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries and lost consciousness. Following the incident, the suspect abandoned both the body and the weapon used in the crime.

Artem S. later reached out to an associate of the victim, providing information that indicated a murder had occurred. Investigators successfully located the body after an extensive search, and it has since been transferred to the Department of Forensic Medicine in Warsaw for an autopsy.

Apprehension at the Border

Police tracked the 21-year-old suspect to the Medyka border crossing, where he was arrested on the evening of June 27, 2026. Upon interrogation, Artem S. admitted to the charges and provided a statement to the authorities.
