Unidentified Aerial Object Enters Polish Airspace Amid Russian Strikes, Debris Found in Tarnawa-Kolonia

Polish radar detected an unidentified flying object moving west during a massive nighttime Russian attack on Ukraine, with debris later discovered in a field in the Lublin Voivodeship.

Unidentified Object Detected on Radar

The consequences of a massive nighttime Russian attack on Ukraine were also felt in Poland. The Operational Command of the Armed Forces announced in a statement that at 3:40 AM, Polish radars detected a foreign, unidentified object flying over Poland in a westerly direction. An on-duty F-16 fighter jet was dispatched to identify it, which is standard procedure during airspace violations.

Six minutes later, at 3:46 AM, before the pilot could clearly identify the object, it disappeared from radar screens.

Mi-24 Helicopter Dispatched and Debris Discovered

To verify and finally confirm the readings of the radar systems, an Mi-24 helicopter was directed to the area of the object’s last known position. The helicopter crew located the probable crash site in an uninhabited area near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia in the Lublin Voivodeship. A Ground Search and Rescue Team and relevant services were dispatched to the site, where operational and security activities are ongoing, according to the DORSZ statement.

Police Confirm Crater and Object Fragments in Biłgoraj County

The Lublin police confirmed in a statement that they received a report of a “loud roar” heard in Biłgoraj County between the localities of Tarnawa Kolonia and Biskupice. The on-duty officer sent police patrols to the site. After 5:00 AM, police officers discovered a crater and scattered elements of an unidentified object in a field approximately 2 kilometers from buildings, between Tarnawa Kolonia and Tokary.

The area was secured by police officers. Services were notified of the incident, including the Military Gendarmerie, the Internal Security Agency, the Military Counterintelligence Service, and the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lublin. Police counter-terrorists were also dispatched to the scene.

Air Raid Sirens Activated in Lublin Voivodeship

During the night, due to the Russian nighttime attack on Ukraine, the early warning system was activated in Lublin, Krasnystaw, and several other areas of the Lublin Voivodeship. Sirens wailed in the cities, and after a few minutes, the alert was cancelled.
