Up to a Dozen Vehicles Damaged in Warsaw After Paving Stones Scatter Across Major Arteries

Overnight in Warsaw’s Al. Jerozolimskie and al. Prymasa Tysiąclecia, scattered paving stones damaged up to a dozen vehicles, though no injuries were reported.

Hazard on the Road

At night, drivers reported a dangerous situation in Al. Jerozolimskie and al. Prymasa Tysiąclecia. Fragments of paving stones were scattered across the roadway, which subsequent cars drove over. For many drivers, the night journey ended with a damaged car and the necessity to stop on the shoulder.

Tires and Rims Take the Hit

Most frequently, tires and rims sustained damage. In many vehicles, punctures or blowouts occurred, making further driving impossible. Drivers who had the opportunity changed wheels on the spot, while others were forced to call roadside assistance and wait for towing or vehicle repairs.

Scattered Across Both Directions

According to one driver, the stones were scattered on the roadway in both directions near Makro. However, the highest number of damaged cars could be observed on the roadway leading towards Ursus. The vehicles stood at various distances from each other, indicating that the dangerous elements were scattered over a longer stretch of road.

High Speeds Heightened the Risk

The situation was particularly dangerous due to the time of night and the speeds at which vehicles travel on this section. A driver might have noticed the obstacle only at the last moment, and a sudden attempt to avoid it could have led to an even more serious incident. Fortunately, despite numerous vehicle damages, no accident resulted in injuries.

Hidden Undercarriage Damage

According to drivers’ accounts, some cars had damaged bodywork elements in addition to tires and rims. Striking a hard object on the road can also damage components located beneath the vehicle, which is why some motorists did not continue driving after the incident.

Source of the Debris Remains Unknown

At this moment, it is unknown how the paving stones ended up in the middle of the road. One of the most probable scenarios is that they fell out of a vehicle passing through the route earlier. However, it is unclear exactly when this happened or who might have been transporting the material.

Substantial Scale of the Incident

The scale of the event was significant. According to information from drivers, as many as a dozen cars may have been damaged. For motorists, this means not only the necessity of vehicle repairs but also establishing the circumstances of the incident and potentially pursuing compensation for incurred costs.

Police Investigation Underway

Police conducted activities at the scene, focusing on establishing the circumstances of the event. A key factor may be determining which vehicle the stones fell from and whether it is possible to identify the person responsible for improperly securing the cargo during transport.

No Casualties Reported

The most important information remains the fact that despite the dangerous situation, no one was hurt. The event could have had significantly more serious consequences, especially if one of the drivers had lost control of the car after hitting the obstacle.
