Investigation into Falsified Death Certificates
The first active investigation concerns the alleged falsification of 20 death certificates. Prosecutors are currently securing these documents from the Civil Registry Office archives.
The prosecutor clarified that a death certificate is an administrative document, not part of medical records, and emphasized that the original documents currently held at the Civil Registry Office are the focus of the investigation. No charges have been filed at this stage.
Eavesdropping Case Dismissed
A second case involving a listening device placed in a morgue office—where staff met with families—has been closed. The device was recovered quickly, and forensic analysis found no recordings on it.
The investigation was dropped this month due to a lack of evidence of a crime. Additionally, no prosecution request was filed by the employee who was the subject of the potential surveillance, and that individual is no longer employed at the facility.
No Evidence of Funeral Business Collusion
Authorities investigated allegations that specific funeral homes were being promoted within the hospital. Investigators interviewed staff members, who testified that such practices are strictly prohibited.
No evidence of such collusion was discovered during the inquiry. Prosecutors consider the possibility that the listening device may have been planted in a failed attempt to record such activities.
Emerging Allegations and Internal Conflicts
The prosecutor noted that new allegations, including the potential sharing of photos of deceased persons, are currently being evaluated to see if they relate to existing cases. Information suggests these reports stem from an ongoing conflict between two former morgue employees.
The office is currently assessing whether these claims necessitate the launch of further, separate legal proceedings.
