Warsaw Prosecutor’s Office Explains Why Dawid Kacprzyk Has Not Yet Been Questioned

Warsaw prosecutors investigating the Południowy Hospital case explain that conditions for questioning doctor Dawid Kacprzyk have not yet been met, as nearly forty witnesses have been interviewed so far.

Two Ongoing Investigations into Południowy Hospital

The Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office is conducting two investigations regarding the Południowy Hospital. The first concerns fraud involving over half a million złotys, while the second relates to the abuse of powers by a public official. The proceedings were initiated following a publication by the Zero.pl portal, which detailed the case of Kacprzyk, who, as the ER coordinator at the hospital and a Civic Coalition council member in the Ursus district, allegedly earned 1.6 million PLN in 2025 during his specialization in anesthesiology. According to the report, Civic Coalition politicians were allegedly admitted to his ward without waiting in line and received comprehensive examinations almost immediately after registration.

Why Kacprzyk Has Not Been Questioned Yet

Prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba explained that when Kacprzyk is questioned as a witness, he will have the right to refuse to answer questions if doing so could expose him to criminal or disciplinary liability. He noted that at this stage of the investigation, this would theoretically be the first questioning rather than the last, and the number of threads would require scheduling multiple dates, meaning the witness and his defense counsel would already know the prosecution’s procedural knowledge. He added that prosecutors are currently analyzing the worked hours, time, and locations of the doctor’s presence during declared work times not only at Południowy Hospital but also at other locations, including hospitals, universities, and offices.

Status of Witness Testimony and Evidence Gathering

Prosecutor Skiba emphasized that public expectation and media narrative point toward questioning Dawid Kacprzyk as a suspect, but to do so, the evidentiary material must be sufficiently gathered and analyzed to issue a charge sheet. He stated that at this stage, the verification of evidence does not allow charges to be brought against anyone, stressing that charges must be tailored like a good suit, never without proper measurement or premature. Within both investigations, conducted by both the prosecutor’s office and the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau, nearly forty witnesses have already been heard, with prosecutors seeing a necessity to question approximately two hundred witnesses regarding the hospital’s ER alone.
