Wild Boar Attacks Man in Warsaw: Victim Hospitalized and Animal Euthanized

A man was bitten on the leg by a wild boar while attempting to dispose of trash on a private property in Warsaw’s Wawer district on the night of July 18.

The Incident on Jabłeczna Street

The encounter occurred on Saturday, July 18, at approximately 10:30 PM. A resident was walking on his private property to discard garbage when he discovered a wild boar near the bin.

The man attempted to drive the animal away, but the boar reacted aggressively. It lunged at the man and bit him in the leg.

Emergency Response and Animal Disposal

Emergency services, including police, City Forestry officials, and medical responders, were dispatched to the scene. The victim received medical aid on-site before being transported to a hospital for further treatment.

Because the animal posed a continued threat to residents and responders, City Forestry workers euthanized the boar. The carcass was subsequently secured and sent for disposal.

Safety Precautions Regarding Wildlife

The incident highlights the dangers of encountering wild boars, especially when animals feel threatened or trapped. Authorities advise against approaching or attempting to drive away these animals.

The recommended course of action is to maintain a safe distance, retreat calmly, and notify the appropriate municipal services if a wild animal is spotted.
