Wildfires Sweeping Across Europe Reach Poland: Forests Ablaze and Dromader Firefighting Planes Deployed

A destructive wave of wildfires reaching Poland has sparked two major blazes across 13 hectares of forests and agricultural wasteland in the Jędrzejów County, prompting an intensive firefighting response.

Fires Break Out in Jędrzejów County

The violent and destructive wave of fires that has been ravaging Southern and Western Europe for weeks has now reached Poland. In the Jędrzejów County of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, two dangerous fires broke out, covering a total of 13 hectares of forests and agricultural wasteland. Numerous fire brigade units and firefighting planes were immediately dispatched to combat the dangerous element.

Firefighters are battling two large fires in the Jędrzejów County within the Świętokrzyskie region. The fire affected a total of 13 hectares of forests and wasteland in the villages of Stawy and Motkowice. The situation is already under control, but the extinguishing of the burnt area will continue until the evening.

Intensive Firefighting and Aerial Support

Two large fires broke out in the Jędrzejów County, forcing firefighters into intensive operations. The first, larger fire is located in the village of Stawy in the Imielno commune and currently covers about 10 hectares of area. The second intervention is taking place in Motkowice, where the fire consumed approximately 3 hectares of forest stands and agricultural wasteland.

Aviation was engaged in the fight against the fire in the town of Stawy. Dromader-type airplane drops are being performed there, with three drops executed at this moment while firefighting operations continue, as stated by Senior Captain Karol Błaszczyk from the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Jędrzejów. Initially, there were concerns about the safety of nearby residents, but Captain Błaszczyk assured that this threat has now been completely eliminated.

Situation Under Control as Mop-Up Operations Continue

Currently, fire brigade units are focusing on securing the area engulfed by flames. The situation is under control and the firefighting of this blaze is ongoing, emphasized the firefighter. Despite the situation being controlled, emergency services still face many hours of work, with the operation potentially lasting at least until evening hours due to the necessity of thoroughly soaking the burnt site to prevent reignition.

The firefighter added that at the present moment, with the dispatch published at 19:24, the situation is under control and the fire is not spreading, but extinguishing the burnt area will last until late evening hours.
