This program functions as an insurance buffer rather than a standard pension supplement. Its purpose is to elevate the income of the lowest-earning parents to match the current minimum pension level.
Official ZUS data indicates that in April 2026, 60,000 individuals were receiving this benefit, with an average monthly payout of 1,078.23 PLN.
Eligibility criteria and requirements
To qualify for the benefit, applicants must meet three specific conditions: they must have raised at least four children, reached the retirement age of 60 for women or 65 for men, and lack sufficient income to meet basic living needs.
Fathers are eligible to receive the benefit only if the mother has passed away, abandoned the family, or has not been involved in the children’s upbringing for an extended period.
Conditions for suspension or revocation
The “Mama 4 plus” benefit is social in nature, meaning ZUS monitors the financial and marital status of recipients. Payments will be immediately reduced or terminated if a beneficiary begins gainful employment or earns income exceeding the minimum pension threshold.
Recipients are legally obligated to promptly notify ZUS regarding any changes in their financial or marital situation to avoid the immediate withdrawal of funds.
Program specifics and administrative procedures
The maximum monthly benefit as of March 2026 is 1,978.49 PLN, which corresponds to the current minimum pension in Poland. This amount is adjusted annually each March.
To apply, individuals must submit the ERSU form to ZUS, including personal data, PESEL number, residential address, birth certificates, and a financial declaration. Adopted children and those raised in foster care are included in the eligibility count.
If an applicant already receives a partial pension, ZUS covers only the difference between that amount and the 1,978.49 PLN ceiling to ensure the recipient reaches the defined minimum income.
