Plane Veers Off Runway, Noses Into Ground at Warsaw Airport

An Aeroklub Warszawski aircraft, registration SP-TPC, left the runway at Warsaw’s Bemowo airport on March 20th, sustaining damage.

Incident at Bemowo Airport

On Friday, March 20th, an incident occurred at the airport in Bemowo involving an Aeroklub Warszawski aircraft with registration number SP-TPC.

After landing, the aircraft, for reasons currently unknown, veered off the asphalt runway onto the grass and dug its nose into the ground.

Damage to the Aircraft

The aircraft landed at 16:12 at airport EPBC, approaching from Powstańców Śląskich Street. After touchdown, the plane left the runway, stopping outside the asphalt surface and impacting the ground with its nose.

The tail of the aircraft also sustained damage, being partially broken.

Smoke and Oil Leak

Following the aircraft’s stop, strong smoke appeared. This was determined to be the result of an oil leak from an oil line onto hot engine components, and not a fire.

The Warsaw fire department was called to the scene, but their actions were limited to securing the area.

No Injuries Reported

Rescue workers from a nearby Air Ambulance base also arrived and examined the occupants of the aircraft.

According to the Warsaw Police Headquarters, there were two people on board, and neither sustained any injuries.

Police confirmed that both individuals were sober.

Investigation Underway

The circumstances of the incident will be investigated by the appropriate aviation authorities, who will determine why the aircraft left the runway after landing.
