PM Tusk Blames PiS for CPK Land Deal Scandal

Prime Minister Donald Tusk accused Poland’s ruling PiS party of orchestrating a bribery scheme to sell 160‑hectare land to the Central Communication Port (CPK) project in November 2023.

Tusk Blames PiS for CPK Land Deal

Donald Tusk said the land sale to CPK was part of a broader PiS plot following the party’s defeat in the October parliamentary elections. He cited the two‑week coalition led by Mateusz Morawiecki and President Andrzej Duda as a key period for arranging the deal, claiming it confirmed long‑standing ties between the party and private interests.

Fast‑Tracked Sale Completed in 24 Hours

Tusk noted that 19 October 2023, the Minister of Agriculture consented to the sale. Six documents were processed in various offices and a notary deed was completed between 30 November and 1 December, all within 24 hours. He highlighted the operation’s speed compared to typical farmers’ land transactions.

Political Drama During Morawiecki’s Short‑Term Government

During the brief Morawiecki administration, Tusk said high‑profile PiS figures, led by President Duda, shouted “yes for CPK, yes for CPK.” He warned that the CPK abbreviation would increasingly be read as “Entire PiS Steals,” reflecting how the party allegedly steers corruption through official procedures.

Key Facts About the 160‑Hectare Transfer

On 27 November, a report revealed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, then led by Robert Telus, approved the sale of 160 hectares of land—originally owned by the National Agricultural Support Center—to a vice‑president of the private firm Dawaton. The land was essential for CPK’s construction. Subsequently, PiS suspended the former minister and two MPs linked to the case, while prosecutors have been investigating the matter for several months.
