Andrzej Poczobut has been released as part of a prisoner exchange between Poland and Belarus, which took place on Tuesday at the border between the two countries.
Belarusian leader Aleksandr Lukashenko ordered that Poczobut, a Polish journalist and activist representing the Polish minority, be included among those released, according to the BiełTA news agency.
Polish Prime Minister’s Reaction
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced Poczobut’s release on X, stating, “Andrzej Poczobut is free. Welcome to the Polish home, Friend.”
The message was accompanied by a Polish flag and a red heart emoji.
