Police Cruiser Collides with Car in Warsaw After Running Red Light

A marked police vehicle and a Ford Mondeo collided at the intersection of Solidarity Avenue and Swedish Street in Warsaw on April 22nd.

Collision Details

On Wednesday, April 22nd, around 4:30 PM, a Ford Mondeo and a marked police cruiser collided at the intersection of Solidarity Avenue and Swedish Street.

The police vehicle, driven by officers from the Warsaw Prevention Department, was traveling on Solidarity Avenue towards the city center.

Right-of-Way and Visibility

According to reports, the police cruiser entered the intersection on a red light, using emergency lights and sirens. Simultaneously, a Ford Mondeo driven by a woman entered the intersection on a green light from Swedish Street, resulting in a collision.

The driver of the Ford Mondeo stated that her view from the left was obstructed by two buses and that she did not hear the approaching sirens of the police vehicle.

Police Acknowledgment of Siren Volume

Information from the scene indicates that the police officers in the cruiser also acknowledged to those involved that the vehicle’s sirens might be too quiet.

Traffic Management and Investigation

Around 6:00 PM, officers from the Road Traffic Department arrived to handle the collision assessment. Four other police cruisers secured the scene until then.

Traffic in the area around the intersection was disrupted during the emergency services’ operations.
