Polish passport demand surges as foreigners seek stability

Foreigners in Poland increasingly seek citizenship status, driving a 21% surge in Polish passport applications to over 19,600 last year.

Record Number of Citizenship Applications

Foreigners, especially those long associated with Poland, are increasingly seeking full legal status stabilization. The best evidence is the growing number of applications for Polish citizenship recognition. According to data prepared for DGP by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, last year officials received over 19,600 such petitions. This is a growth of over 21% compared to 2024.

Migration Patterns Driving the Increase

Experts point out that this is a natural effect of long-term migration processes, particularly the influx of people from the eastern border. After years of legal residence, work, and paying taxes, thousands of them have finally met the rigorous, statutory formal requirements necessary to apply for a Polish passport.
