Polish President Karol Nawrocki has formed a Business Council to advise on economic policy and overcome what he calls the “middle-income trap.”
President Nawrocki Launches Business Council
President Karol Nawrocki established the Business Council on Wednesday. He stated its purpose is to help “break the middle-income trap” and provide opinions on legislation directly impacting the Polish economy.
The “Middle-Income Trap”
During the council’s inauguration, the President emphasized that Poland is currently facing what economists refer to as the “middle-income trap.” This situation is characterized by slowing economic growth and difficulty transitioning to the ranks of the most developed nations.
“We, as a country, have found ourselves in what economists call the middle-income trap, so I deeply believe that the Business Council with the President of Poland, with my great support, will be able to break this trap,” said Karol Nawrocki.
Council’s Role and Responsibilities
The President noted he expects real contributions from entrepreneurs in developing economic strategies and building a modern, competitive economy. The Council will not only serve in an advisory capacity but also as a body offering opinions on legislation.
“I not only want to listen to you, but I also believe that you will be giving opinions on the law that directly affects the Polish economy,” Nawrocki stated.
Council Composition and Coordination
The Business Council includes representatives from various economic sectors, including modern technology, industry, and the food sector. Karol Rabenda, the President’s advisor, will coordinate the Council’s work.
Thirteenth Presidential Advisory Body
The new Business Council is the thirteenth such body operating under the President, joining existing councils such as the Health Council, the Energy and Natural Resources Council, and the Economic Council.
