Prosecutor Launches New Investigation into Sebastian M. Case Amid Influence Claims

A new probe has been opened by Szczecin prosecutors into allegations of undue influence in the case of Sebastian M., who caused a fatal highway crash.

Mysterious Voice and Potential Connections

During a routine phone call with his mother in September 2025, Sebastian M.’s conversation was joined by an unidentified man. The content of this call has sparked interest from authorities.

Court Response and Recording Transfer

Despite assurances from the mysterious caller, Sebastian M. remained in custody. The prison director immediately forwarded the recording to the court, leading to the revocation of the accused’s phone privileges. The recording reportedly circulated among institutions for months without action until April 2026.

Szczecin Prosecutors Take Over the Case

Following numerous interventions, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Szczecin has taken over the investigation into alleged pressure and influence peddling. The difficulty in assigning the case stemmed from the unknown location of the mysterious caller.

The 2023 Highway Tragedy

Sebastian M. is accused of causing a catastrophic crash on the A1 highway in 2023. His BMW collided with a family car at a speed exceeding 260 km/h, resulting in the deaths of Martyna, Patryk, and their 5-year-old son, Oliwier, in the ensuing fire.

Initial Plea and Extradition

Sebastian M. initially denied any wrongdoing. After fleeing the country and a high-profile extradition from the United Arab Emirates in May 2025, he faced Polish justice. He currently faces a maximum sentence of 8 years, a penalty widely considered lenient given the scale of the tragedy.
