Prosecutor: Priest Attempted Prior Murder Before Final Killing of Anatol C.

Radom district prosecutors confirmed that the priest accused of murdering Anatol C. in Lasopole had attempted to kill the victim previously, only to be interrupted by a passing tractor driver.

Additional Attempted Murder Charge

Prosecutor Andrzej Stojak of the Radom District Prosecutor’s Office stated that the former parish priest made a prior attempt on Anatol C.’s life shortly before the final incident, which was thwarted by a passerby.

Due to these findings, investigators intend to bring an additional charge of attempted murder against Mirosław M. An indictment is expected to be filed in court in the coming weeks.

Psychiatric Evaluation Results

Investigators have received an expert report following a multi-week psychiatric observation of the priest. While the prosecutor’s office has not officially disclosed the findings, PAP reports indicate that experts determined Mirosław M. was sane at the time of the crime.

The Murder in Lasopole

The incident occurred on July 25 in the village of Lasopole, Masovian Voivodeship. Priest Mirosław M. was driving with Anatol C. when a dispute arose over a property donation agreement, under which the 68-year-old victim had transferred real estate to the priest in exchange for substitute housing.

According to investigators, when the topic of the property was raised, the 60-year-old priest struck Anatol C. in the head with an axe, set him on fire while he was still alive, and fled the scene.

Discovery and Arrest

A cyclist noticed a large fire around 10:00 PM and discovered a body in the flames with an SUV parked nearby that suddenly drove away. Emergency services were called but were unable to save the victim.

Police identified the vehicle owner through license plate records and arrested the priest at the rectory in Przypki. The suspect, who has been in custody since July 2025, faces a charge of murder with extreme cruelty and a potential life sentence; he has confessed and expressed remorse.
