The National Prosecutor’s Office has requested the waiver of European Parliament member Patryk Jaki’s immunity, citing evidence of potential abuse of power during his tenure as Deputy Minister of Justice.
Allegations of Personnel Irregularities
The investigation by the Poznań Regional Prosecutor’s Office centers on accusations that Patryk Jaki exceeded his authority while overseeing the Prison Service. Prosecutors allege that Jaki issued direct orders to the Director General of the Prison Service concerning the career advancement of a specific official.
According to the prosecution, these appointments lacked the required statutory justification. The actions allegedly aimed to secure promotions, higher salaries, and job guarantees for the official, all while the individual was reportedly subject to disciplinary proceedings.
Concerns Regarding Legal Compliance
Investigators state that Jaki’s interventions violated administrative laws, resulting in unauthorized personal and financial benefits for the official in question. The prosecution maintains that these actions undermined the integrity and objective standards of the Prison Service’s personnel policy.

Patryk Jaki has dismissed the allegations as a politically motivated “circus.” He argues that the accusations regarding personnel appointments are common practice and labels the move as an attempt to harass political opponents, claiming the authorities are merely embarrassing the state.
