Police in Warsaw have arrested a 40-year-old Uzbek national working as a ride-share driver after he misappropriated headphones left behind by a client in his vehicle.
The Investigation Begins
A female passenger left her headphones, valued at 2,000 PLN, in a ride-share vehicle. After contacting the service provider, she was told by the driver that the device had not been found.
The victim tracked the headphones’ digital signal to a location in the Wołomin district. With this evidence, she filed a formal report with the police, prompting an investigation by the Property Crime Unit.
Discovery and Arrest
Detectives quickly traced the signal to a hostel room rented by the driver. Upon arrival, officers found the headphones lying on the suspect’s bed.
The 40-year-old man was taken into custody. Despite the discovery, the suspect attempted to claim he had intended to return the items, blaming his previous denial on a translation error.
Legal Proceedings
Evidence gathered by the Property Crime Unit has resulted in formal charges of misappropriation of property. The case is currently under the supervision of the Warsaw-Praga South District Prosecutor’s Office.
