Road Collapses Under Van in Warsaw

A section of Czarnocińska Street in Warsaw collapsed around 3:20 PM today, causing a van to become stuck in the resulting sinkhole.

Unusual Road Incident on Białołęka

An unusual road incident occurred on Białołęka. Around 3:20 PM, the road surface on Czarnocińska Street collapsed under a Citroën van.

The front of the vehicle fell into the hole, and the van became stuck on the damaged road.

Emergency Response and Vehicle Recovery

Two fire crews and the police were dispatched to the scene. Emergency services secured the area and began operations to safely extract the vehicle from the sinkhole.

The van was carefully lifted with pneumatic cushions, and a tow rope from a fire truck was attached to the rear of the vehicle to pull it out of the hole.

No Injuries Reported

No one was injured in the incident. The driver was unharmed, and no medical assistance was required for anyone else.

Possible Cause: Prior Water Main Break

Residents reported a water main break in the area during the winter. They believe that previous ground erosion may have contributed to today’s road collapse, which will require investigation by relevant authorities and the road manager.

Road Closure for Repairs

Czarnocińska Street remains closed until the damaged road surface is repaired. Normal traffic flow will resume once the area is secured and the hazard is removed.
