A Russian Navy missile vessel, the Amur, has been redirected from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea, arriving in the Kronstadt base near St. Petersburg.
Amur Reassigned to the Baltic
The Russian Navy’s 2024‑acquired ship Amur has been moved from the Black Sea fleet to the Baltic, where it entered the Kronstadt naval base on Kotlin Island in the Gulf of Finland.
Ship Details and Capabilities
Amur is a small missile vessel equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles that can launch maneuverable ordnance. It has been engaged in operations against Ukrainian targets during the war.
Inland Waterway Route
The vessel reached the Baltic by traveling approximately 30 km west of central St. Petersburg through Russian rivers and canals, avoiding open sea routes, a possible tactic to mitigate threats from Ukrainian drones and missiles.
Polish Air Forces Intercept Russian Aircraft
On 28 October, a pair of MiG‑29 fighters from the Polish Air Force successfully intercepted an Ilyushin‑20 aircraft performing a reconnaissance flight over the Baltic Sea, without entering Polish airspace.
