Minister Responds to Diary Hackings
On Monday, January 19, Education Minister Barbara Nowacka addressed reports of electronic diary hackings in Polish schools during a press conference in Leżajsk. Nowacka confirmed receiving information about 3-4 account hackings at one company providing electronic diaries.
“I don’t know the causes, the ministry doesn’t create Librus, it’s commercial activity. The appropriate services are dealing with this,” said Nowacka.
Government Plans Centralized Electronic Diary
Barbara Nowacka announced that the Ministry of National Education is working with the Ministry of Digital Affairs to create a government electronic diary.
“We see the need to create a central diary with a secure login system based on the e-Citizen system. The assumption is that the first phase of such a diary will be implemented on September 1, 2027,” the education minister informed.
Students Given Failing Grades After Hacking
On Sunday, the electronic diary at a school complex in Otwock was hacked, resulting in students receiving failing grades for a subject for the semester. Vulgar messages were also sent out.
The case was reported to the police on Monday. Recently, a similar hacking is said to have occurred in the Dragacz municipality in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
Educational Reform Aims to Enhance Student Engagement
Barbara Nowacka discussed the “Kierunek: Kompas Jutra” reform during a meeting with teachers in Leżajsk, emphasizing the need for practical learning and understanding of educational purposes.
“The reform will bring real changes. Young people will start to identify with school and consciously understand the meaning of learning. We are focusing on key knowledge, competencies and skills,” Nowacka added.
