The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued first-degree weather alerts for several provinces as intense rain and thunderstorms are expected to persist across Poland from Wednesday through Thursday.
Rainfall and Storm Warnings
From Wednesday at 7:00 PM until Thursday at 2:00 PM, a first-degree warning for heavy rain is in effect for the southern Warmian-Masurian, northern Masovian, and parts of the Podlaskie and Kuyavian-Pomeranian provinces. Rainfall intensities are forecast between 20 mm and 30 mm, with local peaks of 40 mm, alongside potential storm gusts of up to 60 km/h.
Additional first-degree alerts for rain and storms cover the south of the Masovian province, the east of Łódź, and the north of Lublin, Lesser Poland, Subcarpathian, and Świętokrzyskie provinces. These alerts remain active from 2:00 PM Wednesday until 12:00 PM Thursday, with similar rainfall and wind projections.
Localized Storm Alerts
First-degree alerts for thunderstorms apply to the southern Lublin and significant portions of the Subcarpathian provinces. These areas may experience 20 mm to 35 mm of rain, wind gusts up to 85 km/h, and possible hail from Wednesday afternoon through the night.
The Government Security Centre has dispatched alerts to residents in the Subcarpathian and Lesser Poland regions, specifically the Gorlice County, advising them to find shelter and avoid open spaces during the storms.
Weather Forecast for Coming Days
Thursday will be mostly cloudy with intermittent sunshine, primarily in the south and west. Rainfall is expected nationwide, with maximum temperatures ranging from 13–14°C in the north to 20°C in the southeast.
Conditions will clear in the west and north on Thursday night, with minimum temperatures reaching 7°C in the north and 11°C in the southeast. Weak rain and snow are possible in the Tatra Mountains.
The upcoming weekend will remain predominantly cloudy, with intermittent rain showers expected to continue through next Wednesday.
