Sikorski in line for new role? “Donald bets on foreign minister”

Donald Tusk is reportedly considering Radosław Sikorski as secretary-general of his party amid upcoming changes.

Party reshuffle plans

Donald Tusk, ahead of the 25th anniversary of the Civic Platform, is planning significant changes, including merging with Nowoczesna and Inicjatywa Polska and renaming the party to Koalicja Obywatelska. Radosław Sikorski is a leading candidate to replace Marcin Kierwiński as secretary-general, with Jarosław Urbaniak as another contender.

Potential premiership

Political analyst Prof. Olgierd Annusewicz suggests Sikorski could become prime minister if Tusk’s image becomes a liability. “Tusk wants to be prepared for such a move, though there’s no certainty he will execute it,” Annusewicz noted.

Sikorski’s political profile

Currently serving as foreign minister and deputy prime minister, Sikorski is described as a “political fighter” capable of both sharp public responses and grassroots engagement. His appointment aligns with the government’s strategy to counter the growing influence of PiS and President Karol Nawrocki.
