A major water main break early Saturday morning in Pruszków flooded a local square and disrupted water supply across the city.
Major Water Main Break Causes Flooding
On Saturday, January 17, around 3 AM, a serious failure of a water main occurred on Poznańska Street in Pruszków. Due to a pipe rupture, there was a sudden water leak that quickly flooded a nearby square. Water also spread to the surrounding area, causing significant difficulties for residents and passersby.
City-Wide Water Supply Disrupted
The failure directly affected the functioning of a large part of the city. Some nearby buildings were completely cut off from running water, while in many other places, residents noticed significant drops in water pressure. According to Pruszków residents, water problems were not only in the Poznańska Street area but also in more distant districts.
Emergency Response Underway
Numerous reports from concerned residents began to arrive at the Municipal Water and Sewage Company. A press spokesperson for MPWiK confirmed the extensive failure, emphasizing that services immediately began actions to control the situation.
Repairs Continue as Water Supply Restored
Around noon, the main leak was stopped and the damaged main was secured. Although the most serious threat has been averted, repair work continues. Water services are working to completely remove the failure and restore full infrastructure functionality.
Next Steps Include Pumping Flooded Square
Good news for residents is that access to running water has already been restored. However, temporary pressure fluctuations may occur in the near future due to ongoing technical work. Services report that the next step will likely be pumping water from the flooded square into the nearby Utrata River. Only after removing excess water will a full assessment of potential damage and restoration of the area to normal use be possible.
Residents are asked to exercise caution in the area where work is being carried out and to follow announcements issued by municipal services.
